No decision you could make is more important or wonderful. When you decide to follow Jesus, you not only have an assured home in Heaven, but you also receive a brand new life and a vibrant purpose for living. Of course, you may be wondering what all that actually means. Here are some things you should know.
Any action that goes against God’s will—leads to spiritual separation from God, which is described as “death.” This isn’t just physical death but a deeper, eternal separation from God’s presence and love. While we all deserve death because of our sins, God offers us the hope of eternal life through His grace. It’s a reminder of the depth of God’s love and the transformative power of accepting this gift, which brings us into a personal relationship with Him.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) Every person who has ever lived has missed God’s standard of perfection.
Every person, regardless of background or life experience, has sinned. Sin refers to any action, thought, or attitude that goes against God’s will and His perfect standard. This means no one is exempt from this condition; we all share the same fallen nature.
God’s glory represents His character—His goodness, righteousness, and absolute moral perfection. By comparing our lives to this standard, we recognize that we inevitably fall short.
These verses together illustrate a profound truth: God is love, but He is also just. His love compels Him to seek a relationship with us, while His justice requires Him to address sin. This duality ultimately points to the need for redemption through Jesus Christ, who satisfies both God’s love and justice by taking the punishment for our sins.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Jesus is the infinite God-man, God in the flesh. He died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins and to purchase a place for us in Heaven, which He offers as a free gift.
The Bible says, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” You can do that now by simply praying:
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But I believe You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in Heaven for me. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation, and I accept Your free gift of eternal life.
If this prayer is the sincere desire of your heart, look at the promise of Jesus: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal life.” (John 6:47)
